Help For Breeders

Breeder accounts are designed to help you manage a litter after implantation and transfer each microchip to the new keeper.

How microchips get into your breeder account

Typically, an implanter implants the litter and assigns the microchips to you as the breeder. You’ll then see those microchips in your breeder dashboard.

Where to manage your litter

Go to Litters / Manage Microchips. This page lists the microchips currently registered to you as the breeder.

Transferring a microchip to a new keeper

When a puppy/kitten goes to their new home, you should transfer the microchip to the new keeper so it leaves your account.

  • Open a chip: from your breeder list, click Transfer to new Keeper.
  • Check pet details: confirm breed, pet name, date of birth, and sex.
  • Enter keeper details: keeper email, name, and phone number.
  • Submit: click Transfer. The new keeper is notified by email.

Keeping a pet back yourself

If you are keeping a puppy/kitten, use the Keep This Pet button on the transfer page. This fills in your own details so the chip can be transferred to you as the keeper.

What happens after transfer?

  • New keeper completes registration: they’ll be guided to set a password and complete their profile if needed.
  • Chip leaves your breeder list: once the keeper completes registration, it no longer appears in your breeder list.

Your breeder settings

If you are a licensed breeder, it can be a legal requirement to store your licence details. Update these in Your Profile under Breeder Settings.

Common questions

  • I can’t transfer a chip: chips can only be transferred while they’re in the correct state. If you think a chip is locked or in the wrong state, contact support.
  • I can’t see a chip I expected: Once a chip has been transferred, it will no longer appear in your breeder list. If you are sure this hasn't happened, please contact your implanter.
