Help For Owners
Owners manage their pets’ microchip records. The key area is Your Pets.
Where do I find my pets?
Go to Your Pets. You’ll see:
- Unregistered chips: items that still need completing/registration.
- Registered pets: pets you can manage (update details, report missing, download certificates).
Registering or completing a pet record
- Unregistered chip: click Register from Your Pets.
- Missing details: click Complete Details and fill in the pet’s information.
- Keeper details: if your address/phone/email are wrong, update them in Your Profile first.
Managing a pet
From a pet’s Manage page you can:
- Update details: pet name, breed, date of birth, sex, colour/markings, and “notes for finders”.
- Upload a picture: helps with reunification.
- Download certificate: generates a printable certificate for your records.
Allow vets & welfare access (recommended)
When updating your pet, you can enable access for vets and welfare organisations so they can contact you for reunification purposes if your pet is found.
Report a pet lost or stolen
- Report: open the pet and click Report Lost or Stolen.
- Review: your report is reviewed by the ChipHERO team; you’ll be emailed follow-up instructions once approved.
- Poster: once reported missing, you can download a missing pet poster from the pet page.
- Found: when your pet comes home, use Report Found to clear the missing status.
Rehoming / transferring keepership
If your pet changes keeper, open the pet and use Rehome to transfer the microchip to the new keeper. You’ll enter the new keeper’s contact details and they will be notified.
Temporary keeper and family vet
- Temporary keeper: add a pet-sitter/relative/kennel for a set period (useful when you’re away).
- Family vet: store your vet’s practice details to support reunification.
If you can’t update a chip because it is locked, or something doesn’t look right, contact us on 0330 043 5244.
