Trust, standards and accountability

About ChipHERO

ChipHERO is a UK pet microchip database that helps keepers manage their pets’ records and helps authorised professionals reunite lost animals with their families.

Government standards

GOV.UK lists ChipHERO among the pet microchip databases that meet government standards. The Scottish Government also lists ChipHERO among databases that meet its standards.

In England, database operators must meet conditions covering secure record handling, identification of keepers and authorised enquirers, round-the-clock telephone and online requests, and redirection of enquiries to other compliant databases. The full requirements are set out in the Microchipping of Cats and Dogs (England) Regulations 2023.

Professional membership

ChipHERO is a member of the Association of Microchip Database Operators (AMDO), which represents UK pet microchip database operators.

How we protect keeper information

  • Public chip searches do not reveal a keeper’s private contact details.
  • Keeper records are managed through authenticated accounts.
  • Professional access is limited by role and authorised searches are logged.
  • Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we use it, and the rights available to you.
